Here is a short story by Arthur Conan Doyle , A Scandal in Bohemia, where Sherlock Holmes has a more human dimension to what it has, usually, when he can solve each case with an intelligence that seems to belong to him alone. The story is contained in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes .

Instead, the case is resolved. Remains unsolved, although in his heart, Holmes had the key to solving it. He is left with only the fee that is due, the picture of the woman who made him lose his head, the photo of the woman convicted of blackmail. Holmes was hired by blackmail, which risked not being able to marry the woman he loved because a photo with another woman poterva blow up the ceremony.
Holmes disguises himself, investigates, but is recognized right from the woman under investigation, too fast and skillful in the art of disguise.
So it seems that Holmes has a weakness: his love for Irina Adler.
